A colorful world full of different ethnicities and unique cultures – this is how we can briefly describe the colorful South American country of Ecuador. It is located in the northwestern part of the continent on both sides of the equator between Colombia, Peru and the Pacific coast. It is divided into three geographical regions – Sierra, Oriente and Costa, each of which represents a different and picturesque world. To these we add the famous beautiful Galapagos Islands, which are located about 1000 km inland in the Pacific Ocean.
Although small in size, Ecuador enjoys an abundance of natural contrasts that are a real delight for the eyes and soul. Dense Amazon jungles alternate with the divinely beautiful snow-capped Andes and erupting flaming volcanoes, among which is Kotopahi – the highest active volcano in the world, which is a real challenge for lovers of strong adventures.
Not to mention the intriguing history of the Latin American country. It was originally inhabited by Indian tribes until it passed in the 15th century under the rule of the Inca Empire. In the early 16th century, the Spaniards discovered the country and made it their colonial possession for two centuries. It is no coincidence that today Ecuador is a unique mix of so many different cultures and ethnicities that give it this unique look. Everyone who knows the country has a special place for it in their heart.
