Easy way to create Drone Transition - Day to Night Transition
Perfect Raw photos - gives great final result
For this purpose, you need 2 hyperlapses videos to put together and create this day-night transition effect. If you prefer, you can use many hyperlapses, just how many you want and put them together to create one big hyperlapse. If you using the Mavic 2 PRO you already have the hyperlapse option available nd by using Waypoints you can easily save your movements so you can recreate them afterwards in different conditions. that allows us for us amazing transformation in the videos so you can create let’s say – one hyperlapse doing in the summer, another- in the winter, third- in the spring and fourth- in the autumn. And when you put them all together, we have the same movement but different seasons and that is going to be amazing.
But now let’s focus on Day and Night. In the hyperlapse you won’t wait hall year to get all the needed videos. Generally, the idea is the same. You simply need to go Hyperlapse mode and the open the Waypoints Submenu. Once you do that, you can start setting your points and feel free to experiment and just do what fits your area so you can create a great looking hyperlapse. Once you are happy with your points mission you save it for later. And that is a crucial step because so you can repeat the same movements after time. You can choose 4 or 5 different points on the map and then save the mission for later. You may set time of mission – 10-12 seconds, for example, an this is going to take 300 different photos. It’s always better to have more footage than not enough footage. Our advice is to make much longer hyperlapses because you can always cut them, but you will never have more footage if you don’t have enough.
So create 2 hyperlapses, 12 seconds long each so these photos will be in RAW format and you can edit them after that in the lightroom. The difference between that the drone compiles for you when you shoot hyperlapse and the footage that you will create with the photos you take is very very significant. We advise you read the article about Hyperlapse Drone technique for more details, so when you will create Day-Night Transition, to use perfect Hyperlapses. We don’t advise you to use pre-made videos from the drone. Always use RAW photos and just stitch them together, make them into a video, stabilize them and then you can use them for video- witch looks much better.
Next thing to think about is the hour of the day when you will shoot the first hyperlapse. If you choose Noon, the Sun is much brightening and shining and the photos will be very light. So the afternoon, before sunset, is a good time for this. This way you will avoid quid massive difference between the two hyperlapses and do not looking so natural. After you take the first footage you can wait a while, until the dark comes. Then you can repeat the same mission. The good shooter speed is about 200. If you use RAW photos, you can always add some shadows or play with exposures that will make your photos just perfect.
After you have already your two separated Hyperlapses you can start editing and put them together into one. Its all to line them up correctly. You have to find a point which will be lining point. After you point this spot on your first footage, after that you have to find the same in the second (night) footage. If there is a need, you can add some blur, shadows or other corrections, just everything you find is necessary. And that is the hall precess of creation of Day-Night Drone Transition. After you finish this, you can add some sound effect, some music, just want you want and this will be just great Full Finished Drone Transition.
