Drone Panorama Photo - simple way to do it.
Here you can find some very useful tips for drone panorama shooting
Drone panorama photo - the technique.
For creating cool pro-looking panoramas photos you can DJ Inspire 2, DG Spark or Maveric. The cool thing is the all these models drone are using the same Mobile App which meant it will be looking same, no matter which drone model you using.
The essential of the creating process
of drone panorama photos
In the beginning – the very base hint – don’t fly when it is too windy. The drone would travel and in the end, the computer won’t be able to stitch the photos together nicely. The is a very important thing. Never try to take the panoramas when there are a huge wind casts and the drone can not be stable to fly.
You can now build up your drone. But before you take off you should open the mobile App. Then open the Camera settings and make sure that the taken image format is set to RAW. The JPEG photographs are no needed. The RAW format just takes every sens and detail that the camera catches. And that is very important especially when it comes to Photography – Panorama photography. There are needed many photos, which will be stitched together at the end. That’s why they need to look the same. If the setting is RAW and the photos do not match perfectly, you can open Photoshop and easily correct the small mistakes.
The next thing is very easy but is super important! Please be sure that you taking only Manual photos. Do not let the camera using the Auto function. The camera will rotate itself when hit the Sun after that will catch more shadow inside and the program ( or example Photoshop) will have a really hard time to finally stitching the photos together. You have to be sure you have the same setting for all the photos.
The next thing is the Camera Gimbal
The next thing is the Camera Gimbal. You have to be sure that you have caught the Horizon off. If you catch it, the result is not good at all. If you are shooting the Horizon tones, make sure the Brightness is to mither off the brightest spot in your photo. Usually, that is the sun. Make sure that you pointed the camera at the Sun and you set the camera to the highest and mostly light setting possible without blowing the highlights and then you are good to go. This step will provide high quality of your drone panorama photo.
Shooter Speed - Low the Speed as possible it is.
If it is possible, try to slow down the shooters of your camera because that why you can get a grid of unwanted shoot objects, for example – birds. Pretty often when you shoot panorama the birds are just flying and freeze and that stay very visible. If you slow down the Shooter speed these birds will just vanish. This is pretty useful. Sometimes you have to use D-filters but that is not necessary.
Overlap Approx. 30% per photo.
The next tip is probably the most important and most critical one. When taking photos always make sure to rotate the camera and overlap some of the footage. At least 30%. Many people said – 10%, 20% of the image is alright. But we talk that if you overlap 30% of all photos – you are safe and good to go. Sometimes it comes that Photoshop can not stitch good the photos if this overlap percentage is smaller.
The Postproduction - take two rows of drone panorama photo.
The last tip is about the process of postproduction. Make sure to not take only one line when you shooting horizontal photos. Add one second. That way you create a bigger photo and after in the postproduction you will very very free when cropping the photo, when finding the perfect angle of the photo. It is very simple. You tild the camera down a little bit and you take same photos again.
