Drones – part of Criminal Scientist Teams – what is that means?  Flying a drone can have one more different purpose. The criminal forensic science can add the drones to their teams, to be one of them. This collaboration can be very perspective for resolve cases of missing people. Drones can help to find Human Remains. Drones – part of Criminal Scientist Teams – this will be one good cooperation.

What we can expect in the near future?

In case that someone is missing, the drone can help investigations by flying over the area where this missing person supposes to be. It can find some clues that can resolve the case and find that person. It may focus some unusual elements on the surface, some cloths or signs of human activities in the area. Time is a crucial element in this type in operations. When it is about human life – each second matters. The drone can reduce significantly the time of research of the potential area. Scanning the surface – now this is made on foot. If the drones join these teams, the time will be reduced to the minimum. With the option of Pinpoint, the drones can give more specific points where the team of investigators can go and check.

The use of drones in criminal forensics has so much potential that the U.S. Department of Justice recently awarded a grant of $280,000 to the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State University (FACTS) to help them use drones to locate human remains.

For now, the finding of human remain is still in the process of developing. The FACTS project shall initially be focused on detailing the ways that drone technology can compare to the technology currently being used to find human remains.  In the future the collaboration with Drones – part of Criminal Scientist Teams , will probably bring excellent results.

Drones shall be tested for finding human remains. The modifications which will be used are Infrared imaging, Advanced light filters, Multispectral imaging and Hyperspectral imaging.
All collected data will be compared via the latest tools.
There is one that can be treated like minus – the capability of the drone to measure the human body temperature. This parameter may vary and the collected data might be not exact and correct. If the drone is too far away from the human body, the results can be inaccurate. This collected data might be not valuable for the court, but can be in help to the investigation team. In real-time operations, in hight mountain areas, in cold weather – the drone help may be really effective and lives can be saved.

The next two years the development of this kind of cooperation will prove the need for drone help in searching operations. Technologies are focusing on better and better use of the drones in the help of humans. One day we can see all police departments equipped with drones as well as they are equipped with police dogs. We will see the result of collaboration of Drones – part of Criminal Scientist Teams.
